Afghanistan appoint Lance Klusener as new Head Coach

Former South African all-rounder, Lance Klusener, has been named as new Head Coach of Afghanistan. Afghanistan Cricket Board have invited several application for the post after Phil Simmon’s tenure ended this month.

From close to 50 applicants for the post of Head Coach, Lance Klusener, was picked for the job. He is a Level 4 certified coach and will be looking to produce positive results for Afghanistan. His first task will be Afghanistan’s series against November that will be slated to begin in November.

Afghanistan Cricket Board, Chief Executive Officer Lutfullah Stanikzai, said that Lance Klusener has been a world-class all-rounder in the game of cricket. Stanikzai said that the national players will certainly benefit from the experience of Lance Klusener. All-rounder clearly expressed his pleasure on his appointment as the Head Coach of Afghanistan.

Lance Klusener said that he is extremely thrilled and reputed to be given opportunity to work with exciting players in Afghanistan’s national setup. All-rounder stated that Afghanistan knows the aggressive brand of cricket and will be looking to bring positive changes in the setup. His main aim will be to help Afghanistan cricket team refine their skills and take their game to the next level.

Lance Klusener has worked as bowling coach for Mumbai Indian in the Indian Premier League. He has served as consultant at South Africa National Cricket Academy. He recently was named as batting coach of South Africa’s T20I squad for India tour. Apart from that, Klusener has also worked a lot in South Africa’s domestic cricket and was Head Coach of Dolphins for a couple of years.

All-rounder will be keen to bring valuable changes to the Afghanistan’s national setup. He certainly will be looking to bring professionalism and different approach to the national side. Afghanistan will be hoping that they can start their new season on a positive note.
