Babar Azam has been named as new captain of Karachi Kings for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League. The premier batsman has been leading the national side in all three formats.
According to a statement issued by Karachi Kings team management, Azam will replace Imad Wasim as new captain of the franchise for the seventh edition of PSL.
After being named as captain, Babar Azam said, It is a huge honor for me to captain the Karachi Kings franchise. He said that he has the support of the team members and Imad Wasim for the upcoming PSL season. He further stated that he is hoping that Kings can do well this PSL season.
He says the main agenda as a captain to help the side clinch trophies in the coming years. Kings is a second home to him after Lahore. He said that he will be looking to deliver his best with the bat in this year’s PSL.
In 2019, Imad Wasim, who captained the side and helped them end their trophy drought. Wasim was happy after Babar was named captain of the franchise. Left-arm spinner said that he considers Babar as a bother and would love to see him Kings forward in this competition.
Imad Wasim said that all things looked good for Karachi Kings at the moment. Every stakeholder is in agreement in terms of selecting Babar Azam as new captain of the franchise. Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal said that Babar Azam has been integral part of the franchise since the inception of PSL in 2016. He further stated appreciated Babar for his full commitment towards the franchise since the beginning. He said that he is trying to make this better and better by each passing day.
It will be interesting to see how Karachi Kings fare under new leadership of Babar Azam in the upcoming edition of PSL.
