Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan ruled out for three months with finger injury.

Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out for three months due to an infection that caused a delay in the surgery on his left finger.

Shakib missed the super-4 game and finals of Asia Cup 2018 as he could no longer play with the injury. He went to back to Dhaka and after assessment on his injury it was revealed that pus had developed in his wrist that needed immediate attention.

Shakib will need the infection to be cured before he undergoes a surgery on his left finger. The all-rounder picked up the injury earlier this year. He said that when he said doctors clearly told me to immediately cure the infection that might further aggravate the injury.

The all-rounder was relieved to have gone for immediate treatment to remove the pus that had spread through little finger. A delay could have seen his wrist disabled. He said that infection will be cured in three weeks. After surgery, it will take atleast two months to recover from injury and be available for selection for Bangladesh.

Shakib has been splendid form with bat and ball this year across all three formats. He also played a big role in Bangladesh qualifying for the finals of Nidahas Tri-series Trophy played in Sri Lanka earlier this year. The all-rounder also stated that it was his decision to participate in this year’s Asia Cup. He played a couple of games in the competition which further aggravated the injury on his finger.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan did ask Shakib whether he could play the competition or not due to injury. Shakib made his final decision in consultation with medical team to participate in the Asia Cup but his injury got worse by each game he played for Bangladesh in the competition.

The 31-year old said that he participated in the Asia Cup because it was quite an important competition for Bangladesh.
