BCCI announces squads for ODI and T20I series against West Indies

Wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been not included for West Indies tour due to his personal commitments. Chief Selector MSK Prasad said that the former Indian Captain won’t be available for the tour to West Indies that will begin from 3rd August.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya is also missing from the squads announced for the tour. He suffered from groin injury during 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and has been rested as a precautionary measure. Vijay Shankar hasn’t fully recovered from toe injury sustained during the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

For the one-day leg of the tour, India have taken Rishabh Pant as the premier wicket-keeper in the squad. For two-match Test series, Wriddhiman Saha has been included in the squad as a reserve wicket-keeper. He last played competitive cricket for India against South Africa in 2018.

Premier pace bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has been rested for the shorter formats of the game. Bumrah is scheduled to play two-match Test series against West Indies. Murali Vijay and Prithvi Shaw have been dropped from the side due to fitness issues.

Shreyas Iyer has earned his call-up to the one-day squad while Manish Pandey also performed exceedingly for India A against West Indies A in the Caribbean. Uncapped pace bowler Navdeep Saini also produced excellent performances for India A on the tour of West Indies.

India will begin their tour with a three-match T20I series. The three ODIs is slated to begin from August 8. India take on West Indies in the two-Test series that will start from August 22.
