Australia T20 Superstar Chris Lynn has been named the captain of Brisbane Heat for te upcoming season of Big Bash League. Lynn has earlier captained the franchise in the 2015-16 season and was leading run-scorer with 378 runs in 8 matches. Brisbane Heat finished 7th in the league table last year and could only manage four wins out of ten matches played.
Lynn is leading run-scorer for Brisbane Heat with 1560 runs at a strike rate of 158.21. He is the only player to smash 100 sixes in the history of Big Bash League. The 28-year old expressed his views with the media and said that leading a cricket team is always enjoyable experienced. He said that he is ready to lead the side for the coming season of Big Bash League. Lynn stated that Brisbane Heat has got enough resources to do well this coming season.
Former Brisbane Heat Captain Brendon McCullum extended all this support to the newly appointed captain of the franchise. He said that the time was right for Lynn to lead Brisbane Heat in this year’s competition. McCullum said that Lynn would definitely do things differently that might help Brisbane turn things around in the coming season. McCullum is set to open the innings with Chris Lynn in the coming edition of Big Bash League.
Lynn has been unfortunate and suffered a string of injuries that have hampered his progress at the international level. He has gone through a lean run for Australia in the T20 format and failed to produce a notable score in the T20I series played in the UAE. He will be keen to get back to form and produce consistency with the bat to help Brisbane Heat produce right results in the year’s tournament.
The opening game of Big Bash League will see defending champions Adelaide Strikers take on Brisbane in Gabba on 19th December
