West Indies have named their 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match one-day series against Sri Lanka. Surprisingly, opener Evin Lewis and middle-order batsman Shimron Hetymer have been overlooked after failing to clear fitness Test. Darren Bravo makes his return to the limited-overs squad. All-rounder duo of Fabian Allen and Rovman Powell has made their return to the ODI squad after recovering from injuries.
Cricket West Indies Chief Selector, Roger Harper said that the likes of Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetymer failed to clear the desired fitness standards to play international cricket. Lewis recently played for West Indies in the three-match one-day series against Ireland staged in India. Left-hander batted exceedingly well and was the standout performer for West Indies with the bat. On the other hand, Hetymer has been a rising star for West Indies in the limited-overs cricket.
Kieron Pollard-led unit fought admirably in the three-match one-day series played in India. Sri Lanka are also finding their way in one-day cricket by including new players for the three-match one-day series. Pollard has done well as a player and delivered consistent performances for the side in limited-overs cricket for West Indies.
Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell have done exceedingly well in the domestic List A competition. Middle-order batsman Darren Bravo has scored consistently for his domestic side and will be keen to continue his good form in this three-match series.
The limited-overs squad will leave for Sri Lanka on 8th February and the opening game of the series will be played on 22nd February in Colombo. The three-match one-day series will be followed by two-match T20I series.
