Former England opener Alex Hales signed a one-year contract with Sydney Thunder for the coming season of Big Bash League. With this deal, Hales became the third English player to sign for Big Bash League after Tom Banton, who signed for Brisbane Heat and Tom Curran roped in by Sydney Sixers.
Both Tom Curran and Tom Banton signed multi-year contracts for their respective franchises. After having a successful season with Sydney Thunder last year, Alex Hales became the first overseas player to sign a new deal for the coming season of Big Bash League in the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic.
Last year’s BBL season, Alex Hales played exceedingly for Sydney Thunders and finished as leading run-scorer for the side in the competition. In 17 BBL matches played, Hales accumulated 576 runs with six half-centuries to his name. Alex Hales will once again open the innings with Usman Khuwaja for Sydney Thunder for the coming edition of Big Bash League.
England are expected to tour South Africa and Pakistan in December and early next year. Alex Hales will be looking to make a big impression with the bat for Sydney Thunder in this year’s Big Bash League. Nottinghamshire player is expected to play full season of Big Bash League this year.
