With Kieron Pollard and Liam Dawson unavailable for PSL playoffs, Peshawar Zalmi has signed former South African captain Faf du Plessis.
The playoffs of the 2020 Pakistan Super League came to grinding halt due to Covid-19 pandemic. Recently, Faf du Plessis showed excellent form with the bat in this year’s Indian Premier League. He finished the competition as leading run-scorer for Chennai with 449 runs in 13 innings.
The knockout stages of the competition will be played from 14th November at National Cricket Stadium.
Kieron Pollard is currently on international duties with West Indies national cricket team. Faf du Plessis has been named as a replacement for Pollard. With the culmination of IPL, Faf du Plessis expressed his desire to keep playing cricket for another five years.
Faf du Plessis expressed his pleasure of signing with Peshawar Zalmi for the knockout stages. He stated that he has fond memories of playing in Pakistan when he last played for ICC World XI in 2017. He will certainly be slotted into the playing XI for the Eliminator game against Lahore Qalandars.
Karachi Kings have signed West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford after England pacer Chris Jordan was not available due to personal reasons. Ali Khan is also not available for the knockout stages so Waqas Maqsood has been included in Karachi Kings squad.
Chris Lynn will miss the PSL playoffs for Lahore Qalandars. In order to fill the void at the top, Bangladesh Tamim Iqbal has been roped in by Qalandars. Pakistan opener and Agha Salman come in as replacements for Salman Butt and Seekkuge Prasanna.
With James Vince and Mahmudullah ruled out of the PSL playoffs after being tested positive for Covid-19. Adam Lyth, Joe Denly and Brendan Taylor have been signed by Multan in order to strengthen the overall squad.
Other notable replacements for Peshawar Zalmi are Hardus Viljoen, Yasir Shah and Khurram Shahzad. Liam Dawson, Lewis Gregory and Amir Khan have been ruled out of the competition.
Table-Toppers Multan Sultan will take on Karachi Kings in the Qualifier 1 game of 2020 Pakistan Super League to be played at National Cricket Stadium. The eliminator game of PSL 2020 will be played on 14th November between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi.
The Qualifier 2 game of PSL 2020 will be held on 15th November , and the final on 17th November at National Cricket Stadium in Karachi
