Bangladesh have announced their 23-man preliminary squad for the upcoming limited-overs against Sri Lanka. Uncapped pacer Shohidul Islam has earned their maiden call-up for the three-match series against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh Cricket Board have also decided to opt for experienced opener Imrul Kayes for the three-match ODI series, starting from 23rd May.
Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Selector, Minhajul Abedin said that that the selectors have gone for a full-strength for the three-match ODI series. Imrul Kayes richly deserves his comeback to the side after scoring a lot of runs in the domestic circuit.
Those players who are called-up for the limited-overs series will prepare for the one-day series at Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka from 2nd May. Mominul Haque is currently leading the Test side for the ongoing two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
Preliminary squad will be expected to arrive in Sri Lanka and make preparations for the one-day series from 7th May. The squad will then have one-week break to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, starting from 10th May.
Sri Lanka have yet to announce their ODI squad for the three-match series against Bangladesh. The visitors will arrive in Bangladesh on 16th May. After a three-day mandatory quarantine period, they will then go through training sessions to make preparations for the ODI series, starting from 20th May.
Host Bangladesh will play an-intra squad game on 20th May, whereas Sri Lanka will play a practice match at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium on 21st May. The three-match ODI series will be at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on 23rd, 25th and 28th May.
With IPL postponed indefinitely, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and pacer Mustafizur Rahman will return to Bangladesh and will be available for the one-day series.
