Leg-spinner Imran Tahir, Noor Ahmad signed by Melbourne Renegades for upcoming BBL season

South Africa Leg-spinner Imran Tahir has signed for Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming season of Big Bash League. Wrist spinner is all set to make his debut in Big Bash League. Afghanistan left-arm orthodox spinner, Noor Ahmad, is another notable signing for Melbourne Renegades.

The 41-year old spinner will miss the initial stage of the Big Bash League and will be available for Melbourne Renegades after Christmas period. Rookie spinner Noor Ahmad is expected to fill the void for Imran Tahir in the Big Bash League.

Melbourne Renegades Head coach Michael Klinger said that Imran Tahir has been excellent performer in the T20 format and done well in leagues like Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and Bangladesh Premier League.

Klinger stated that Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad is another exciting prospect signed by Melbourne Renegades. He is certainly a mystery spinner who might cause problems to opposition batsmen.

Imran Tahir has played 305 T20I matches in his career so far and claimed 382 wickets at an average of 19.85 with two five-fors to his name. Despite being leading wicket-taker in 2019 Indian Premier League, Imran Tahir sat on the sidelines for Chennai Super Kings in this year’s competition

Imran Tahir expressed his pleasure after signing for Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming BBL season. Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad played a crucial role in helping Mis Ainak Knights clinch Sphageeza League. In this year’s competition, Noor Ahmad claimed 11 wickets for Mis Ainak Knights.

Earlier this year, Left-arm spinner Noor Ahmad was signed by St Lucia Zouks for Caribbean Premier League. The player had to withdraw after he wasn’t able to get a transit via through United Kingdom.

Mohammad Nabi is another notable name signed by Melbourne Renegades for another year, Due to recent rule changes in BBL, franchises can field their three overseas players in the playing XI.

Adelaide Strikers will lock horns with Melbourne Renegades in the opening game of Big Bash League on 3rd December.
