Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas will be playing Country Cricket for Leicestershire after having a good run for Pakistan in Test cricket. Sohail Khan also has been picked up Leicestershire as Abbas might miss games for the county side due to international duties for Pakistan. Both Pakistan players have selected by Leicestershire as overseas signings for the year 2018.
It is good news for Pakistan as Abbas will play a couple of games for Leicestershire ahead of the two-match Test series against England. He is expected to rejoin the side for NatWest T20 Blast while Sohail Khan will play the one-day competition for the side in absence of Abbas. Sohail Khan has not been in the national setup despite giving a superlative performance for Pakistan on their last tour of England in 2016.
Misbah-ul-Haq and co. managed to draw the four-match Test series against England. Sohail picked a lot of wickets and was instrumental in Pakistan’s good show in England.
Mohammad Abbas speaking to the media said that he is pleased to be signed by Leicestershire for County Championship for the 2018 season. Abbas said that he was always keen to play country cricket in England and was eager to learn new tricks with the ball while working with Head Coach Paul Nixon.
Leicestershire Head Coach Paul Nixon looked pleased with the two Pakistani players signed for the summer. He said that the side has been looking for quality bowlers as Mohammad Abbas and Sohail Khan have done well for Pakistan at the international level. The side will be without Abbas for the opening phase of the season so Sohail Khan will step in to fill the desired role as pace bowler holds a fabulous record in red-ball cricket.Sohail Khan was the standout performer for Pakistan with the ball in the four-match series against England played in 2016.
