Mahmudullah axed from Bangladesh test squad due to poor form with the bat

Middle-order batsman Mahmudullah has been axed from the Test Squad for the second game of the series against Sri Lanka to be played at P Sara Oval in Colombo. Bangladesh is all set to play their historic 100th test at Colombo and are 1-0 down in the series after Sri Lanka clinched a comprehensive win by 259 runs at Galle.

Mahmudullah looked in woeful touch with the bat as he had scored only half century in the last seven test appearances for Bangladesh. Imrul Kayes has recovered from injury and will join the squad ahead of the second test to replace Mahmudullah. Soumya Sarkar will play in the middle order as Imrul Kayes will slot back into his opening role with Tamim Iqbal. Kayes was sidelined due to injury and could not play last three matches for Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka look favorites in the second game as well after pulling off their 15th win against Bangladesh in 17th games played so far.It would take some doing to stop Sri Lanka from winning the series at Colombo.
