Australia’s rising star Marnus Labuschagne has managed to extend his contract with Glamorgan by 2022. Due to ongoing covid-19 pandemic, Australian batsman will not be able to take part in this year’s English County Championship after signing a two-year deal with Glamorgan.
Marnus Labuschagne said that it was straightforward decision to sign a two-year deal with Glamorgan. He stated that he was extremely disappointed not to be playing in the English County Championship this season for Glamorgan.

Last year, Marnus Labuschagne was the standout player with the bat for Glamorgan and topped the batting charts in the English County Championship. He accumulated 1114 runs in 10 County Championship matches to help Glamorgan secure fourth position in the Division 2.
Glamorgan’s Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace said, “It was pleasing to see Marnus Labuschagne to sign two-year deal with the club and he will certainly a lot of firepower to the batting department.” Wallace stated that Marnus’s decision to stay shows his utmost commitment to the club and it is a great step for the county side going ahead this season. He does bring a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm among his teammates.
Since Ashes series in England in 2019, Marnus Labuschagne has experienced a purple patch with the bat in Test cricket. For Australia, Labuschagne has accumulated 1459 runs in 14 matches at an average of 63.43. Last year, he topped the batting charts for Australia with 1104 runs in 11 Test matches played.
