Melbourne Stars cruise to a seven-wicket win over Perth Scorchers

The 26th game of the Big Bash League saw Perth Scorchers take on Melbourne Stars at Perth. The visitors bowled first after Scorchers won the toss and elected to field first. The likes of Scott Boland and Ben Hilfenhaus made early inroad to see the hosts reeling at 34 for 5 after 8 overs. Adam Tye played a good knock to bail his side out of trouble as he scored 42 runs off 33 balls.He struck four fours and one six in his innings.Ashton Agar and Tim Bresnan added over 50 runs at the end of  the innings to see Scorchers post a modest total of 134 runs after 20 overs. Michael Beer and Ben Hilfenhaus took two wickets apiece and were economical with the ball in hand.

Luke Wright departed for a low score in the chase but opener Rob Quiney and Kevin Pietersen chipped in with scores to see their side chase down the runs in the 17th over. Pietersen top scored for the Melbourne Stars with 44 runs while Marcus Stoinis played a handy innings at the end to remain unbeaten on 40 runs to see the side win the game by seven wickets.

Melbourne Stars after brushing aide Perth Scorchers at Perth are now at second place while Scorchers are close behind on third position with net run-rates being the difference among the top four side in the league at the moment. It is pretty close at the top with three teams tied on 8 points in the Big Bash League.
