New Zealand have announced their full-strength side for the upcoming tour of England. Kane Williamson makes a return to the side and will lead New Zealand for the two-match Test series.
All-rounder Michael Bracewell has earned his maiden call-up to Test squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against England. Kane Williamson make a comeback to the side after missing home series against Bangladesh and South Africa. Due to a tendon injury in his elbow, he hasn’t played a Test match since November.
In 2020-21 and 2021-22 first class seasons, Michael Bracewell showed incredible form and produced 725 and 190 runs respectively. Pacer Blair Tickner and uncapped keeper Cam Fletcher have been included in New Zealand’s Test squad for England series. Earlier this year, Fletcher and Tickner were named in the Test squad for the two-match series against South Africa.
Since 2013, Cam Fletcher has been a consistent performer for his side in the domestic circuit and averages above 40 in the 2021-22 Plunket Shield. Fletcher will be the reserve wicket-keeper behind Tom Blundell. On the other hand, Blair Tickner has made 10 limited-overs appearances for New Zealand.
Hamish Rutherford, who notched up a century in Test debut against England, has made a comeback to the Test squad. In 2021-22 Plunket Shield, Rutherford was the third highest run-scorer in the competition. Uncapped pacer Jacob Duffy has been picked for England series. He has played four T20I matches for New Zealand. Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel are two front-line spinners picked for tour of England.
Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell will miss the warm-up matches played at Hove and Chelmsford due to their commitments in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme and opener Will Young are currently playing in the English County Championship in England. The Test squad will be reduced to 15 players ahead of the opening Test at Lords. New Zealand Head Coach Gary Stead said that the team management will be looking after the workloads of the players ahead of the busy season this year.
