Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is ruled out of the forthcoming one-day series against Bangladesh. The premier bowler suffered from ankle injury while bowling in the practice session ahead of the one-day series. Rahman will also the miss the T20 leg of the tour and is going back to Bangladesh for further assessment on his injury.
Bangladesh were hammered in the two-match test series and look in position to post a challenge to South Africa that look a better side on all fronts. Bangladesh Cricket Board named fast bowler Shafiul Islam as replacement for Mustafizur Rahman for the upcoming one-day series. Rahman did twist his ankle in a practice session and will not be able to get fit in time for the series.
Shafiul Islam will join the Bangladesh squad on Friday. The side has already lost first games of the series and will be keen to produce a better show in the final one. Former Bangladesh batsmen Habibul Bashar who is now a member of selection committee said that Mustafizur is a big player for Bangladesh and has done exceedingly well at international level since making his debut. The bowling for the Tigers has been a worry during this tour.
Captain Mashrafe Mortaza also has not done anything special as the side has leaked a lot of runs in the first two games of the series. Taskin Ahmed has done poorly so far as Shafiul might in place for the remainder of the series.
The side will play the first T20 game starting from 26th October as Shafiul Islam will be keen to cement his place in the side. Habibul Bashar said that Shafiul has done well at the domestic level and has been leading wicket-taker for his side in the one-day format. It will be good opportunity to prove his mettle against a strong side like South Africa.
