Pakistan announce 16-member squad for South Africa ODI series

Left-arm quick Mohammad Amir has made a comeback into the limited-overs squad for the upcoming one-day series in South Africa. Pakistan announced a 16-man squad for the five-match one-day series that will begin from 19th January.

Amir was dropped from the one-day side after failing to pick up wickets during the Asia Cup tournament played in the UAE last year. He was overlooked for Pakistan’s one-day series against New Zealand played in the UAE.

The 26-year old has done tremendously well in the three-match Test series against South Africa and will be keen to make an impact with the ball in the upcoming one-day series as well.

Shoaib Malik, Hussain Talat, Usman Shinwari, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Hafeez will certainly bring in enthusiasm and positive vibe in the one-day squad for South Africa series. Pakistan Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said that the squad has picked that do well in the conditions in South Africa and in this year’s Cricket World Cup.

Inzamam-ul-Haq said that pacer Mohammad Amir has done exceedingly well in the Test series against South Africa and has earned his recall to the limited-overs side for the upcoming the five-match series that begins on Saturday.

Middle-order batsman Haris Sohail will not be a part of limited-over squad after suffering from a knee injury ahead of the Test series against South Africa. Left-arm quick Junaid Khan also has dropped from the side for the series.

All-rounder Hussain Talat and opening batsman Shan Masood have been included in the one-day squad for the series against South Africa. The opening game of the one-day series will be played at Port Elizabeth on 19th January.
