Middle-order batsman JP Duminy has signed for Rajshahi Kings for the coming season of Bangladesh Premier League. The 35-year old recently decided to quit from limited-overs cricket following the conclusion of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 played in England and Wales. Duminy is one of prominent signings made by franchise for the coming season.
Earlier this year, he also decided to retire from domestic cricket in order to prolong his career in shorter formats of the game. He expressed his desire and willingness to play T20 cricket and take part in various leagues being played across the globe. Belfast Titans signed JP Duminy as a marquee player for the inaugural Euro T20 Slam.
He also was part of the squad for Mumbai Indians during the 2019 Indian Premier League. He did not play any of the games and sat on the sidelines throughout the competition. After his retirement from international cricket, he will be focused to do well and perform with the bat in different leagues around the world. Left-handed batsman also has played in Pakistan Super League and accumulated 251 runs in 10 matches for Islamabad United last year.
JP Duminy has produced excellent numbers with the bat in the T20 format. In 252 T20 games, he also scored 6106 runs at an average of 37. 46. He also scored 41 half-centuries in his T20 career with best score of 99 not out. For South Africa, Duminy has been a bankable performer and accumulated 1934 runs in 81 matches at an average of 38.68. He has scored eleven half-centuries for South Africa at the international stage.
