Sharjeel Khan makes comeback as Pakistan announce T20I, ODI and Test squads for tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe

Leg-spinner Shadab Khan and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has made their return to the T20I squad for the upcoming tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe. Shadab Khan is expected to act as a deputy to Babar Azam for the T20I series against South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Opener Sharjeel Khan has managed to make comeback to the T20I squad for the tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe. Left-hander last appearance for Pakistan was in 2016. The 31-year old has been picked after showing excellent form with the bat in the 2020 PSL. He also did exceedingly well for his domestic side in the National T20 Cup and accumulated 233 runs.

Pakistan Chief Selector, Mohammad Wasim said that Sharjeel Khan has been rewarded for his excellent performances in the National T20 Cup followed by PSL. Left-hander will need to improve his fitness in order to make a strong comeback at international stage.

Uncapped players like Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Arshad Iqbal have been included in the T20I squad. Aamer Yamin, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Zahid Mehmood, Zafar Gohar and Hussain Talat have been dropped from the squad after playing for Pakistan in the previous series against South Africa.

T20I Squad for South Africa and Zimbabwe series: Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Haider Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr. Arshad Iqbal, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain, Danish Aziz, Usman Qadir.

Pacer Wahab Riaz and spinner Imad Wasim have been dropped from the limited-overs squad. Haris Sohail, Abid Ali, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Musa, Zafar Gohar, Iftikhar Ahmed and Rohail Nazir have been dropped from the ODI squad.

On the other hand, Saud Shakeel, Danish Aziz and Mohammad Wasim Jr. have been named in the 18-man squad for the one-day series.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah has been ruled out of Test series against Zimbabwe due to injury. Kamran Ghulam has been dropped from the squad. Pacer Shahnawaz Dhani and spinner Zahid Mehmood have earned their maiden call-ups to the Test side.

Test Squad for Zimbabwe series: Babar Azam (captain), Azhar Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Imran Butt, Abid Ali, Saud Shakeel, Agha Salman, Abdullah Shafique, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Zahid Mehmood, Sajid Khan, Shahnawaz Dhani, Tabish Khan, Nauman Ali.

First, Pakistan is scheduled to tour South Africa in play three ODIs followed four T20Is. The series in South Africa will begin from 2nd April. After conclusion of tour of South Africa, Pakistan will fly to Bulawayo on 17th April to play two Tests and three T20Is.
