South Africa has announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy to be played in England in June. Keshav Maharaj has been included into the mix as left-arm spinner has received his maiden call for limited overs cricket. The squad will play three-match one day series against England that will begin on 24th May and then play Champions Trophy that begins in the month of June. Maharaj has been splendid in test cricket and would be keen to make an impressive in limited overs cricket for South Africa.
Morne Morkel also returns or the side after coming back from career-threatening injury that kept him out for almost ten months. The other pace options in the squad are Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius and Andile Phehlukwayo. Lindi Zondi who is the convener of selectors said that the squad picked for Champions Trophy has played tremendous cricket over last eight months and has produced excellent results in winning three series on the trot.
Proteas will depart for England on 16th May for a long tour that will see them one day internationals, T20s and four Tests in addition to Champions Trophy schedule to be played in June. The side will play their warm-ups against Northants and Sussex.
