Quinton de Kock or JP Duminy are two players that might take over the role of captaincy after Du Plessis being ruled out of the one-day series against Sri Lanka. So far, South Africa has not made any formal announcements as to who will replace du Plessis as captain of the side.
South Africa have already sealed the series after taking unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match one-day series. The visitors will also play one-off T20 game to conclude the tour. Faf du Plessis sustained the injury during the third game of the series which South Africa went on to win by 78 runs.
