Sri Lanka announce T20I and ODI squads for England series

Sri Lanka have named their T20I and ODI squad for the upcoming tour of England. The visitors will be led by Kusal Perera, who will be hoping for change in fortunes in white-ball cricket. Newly-appointed Kusal Perera led Sri Lanka in the recently concluded one-day series against Bangladesh. The selectors have picked almost 24 players across both the formats.

Veteran pacer Nuwan Pradeep has made a comeback to the T20I and ODI squads for the tour of England. The notable absentee from the squad is middle-order batsman Ashen Bandara, who did well in West Indies earlier this season.

Experienced trio of Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Matthews were overlooked once again as selectors have made it clear that they are building a pool of player for 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Dhananjaya de Silva are most experienced players in the batting department. Avishka Fernando, Oshada Fernando and Dasun Shanaka are promising players who will be looking to create an impact for Sri Lanka in the T20I and ODI series against England.

Last week, Sri Lankan cricketers expressed their anger with new contracts given by Sri Lankan Cricket Board.  After the dispute was resolved, selectors decided to announce T20I and ODI for upcoming tour to UK. The Islanders will fly to UK on 9th June where they will play T20I and ODI series against England.

The Islanders will kick-start their tour with T20I series that will begin from 23rd June in Cardiff. The culmination of the T20I series will see the visitors lock horns with England in a three-match ODI series.
