Dinesh Chandimal started his captaincy tenure on right note after winning the one-off Test against Zimbabwe. The newly appointed Sri Lankan captain has been ruled out of the opening Test of the series against India after suffering from pneumonia. Rangana Herath will become stand-in captain for the side in the first test against India.
The middle order batsman’s absence will be missed as Galle seems to be favorite hunting as he has scored a lot of runs at the venue. Dinesh Chandimal efforts at this ground in the 2015 series played against India helped his side secure a historic win after conceding a first-innings deficit of more than 150 runs.
