Star T20 batsman Chris Gayle has signed for St Lucia Zouks for the upcoming 2020 Caribbean Premier League. With Jamaica Tallawahs not retaining the swashbuckling batsman, Chris Gayle took the offer from St Lucia Zouks.
In order to bolster their batting resources, St Lucia Zouks decided to bring in Chris Gayle for the coming season. He played the initial four CPL season with Jamaica Tallawahs. He then played for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots for one season. Jamaica Tallawahs resigned the star batsman for the last year’s competition. Despite kick-starting the last season with blazing ton against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. After that his struggled to deliver consistent scores For Tallawahs. He finished the CPL season with 243 runs from 10 innings.
KPH Dram Cricket Private Limited recently acquired St Lucia Zouks and have served as Chris Gayle’s employers in the Indian Premier League. The new management have decided to change things around with Andy Flower being named as head coach of the franchise. Darren Sammy has managed to retain his captaincy despite wholesale changes.
Skipper Darren Sammy expressed his pleasure over the signing of Chris Gayle for the coming season. He said that Chris Gayle will bring a lot of valuable experience which can help the franchise, turn their fortunes around in the coming CPL season.
Sammy further stated that Chris Gayle will be keen to prove a point with the bat and silence his critics in the coming edition of Caribbean Premier League. St Lucia Zouks Head coach, Andy Flower said that Chris Gayle will provide firepower and bolster the batting resources for the coming season. Former Zimbabwe captain expressed his desire towards creating a great working relationship with Darren Sammy for this year’s Caribbean Premier League.
2020 Caribbean Premier League is scheduled to take place from 19th August till 26th September. The tournament can be rescheduled depending on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic across the globe.
