England and Wales Cricket Board has named Steven Finn as replacement for Chris Woakes as fast bowler ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2017 due to side strain. The Warwickshire all-rounder only bowled two overs before showing discomfort as he could not take part in the game against Bangladesh.
Finn who has taken 102 wickets in 69 Limited overs game for England at an average of 29.3 made his return after showing good form for England Lions against South Africa A side. He was the standout bowler and was chosen over the likes of Toby Roland-Jones and Tom Curran.
The tall pacer has played only four limited over games for England since 2015 out of which three have come against West Indies in the Caribbean. The inclusion of Steven Finn will bolster England’s bowling resources with the likes of Mark Wood, Liam Plunkett, Jake Ball and David Willey in the mix for Champions Trophy 2017.
