The 25th game of the Big Bash League saw clash between city rivals as reigning champions Sydney Thunder take on Sydney Sixers at Sydney Cricket Ground. The Sixers produced a now show with the bat as Fawad Ahmed and Carlos Brathwaite shined with the ball in hand to see them clinch a dominating nine wicket win.
Sixers started on a decent but once the openers were dismissed the side folded quickly to capitulate on 99 runs from 20 overs. The bowlers for Sydney Thunder were superb on the night as Fawad took four wickets while conceding 14 runs. Carlos Brathwaite took three wickets and dismissed Brad Haddin and Johan Botha for low scores to see Sixers failing to reach three figures in 20 overs.
Kurtis Patterson and James Vince came out and started positively as both added over 50 runs for the opening stand.Ben Rohrer also chipped in with unbeaten 26 runs while Patterson was at the other end unbeaten on 38 runs to take the side to win the game by nine wickets.
The reigning champions had a dismal start to their campaign as Thunder have now started to gather momentum for crucial games ahead as they still well in the run for the semis while Sixers will be disappointed with their performance in front of their home crowds.
