Uncapped Devon Conway and Kyle Jamieson included in New Zealand T20 squad against West Indies

New Zealand Cricket have announced their T20I and Test squads for the upcoming series against West Indies to be played at home. Uncapped batsman Devon Conway has been included in the New Zealand’s T20 squad for the upcoming three-match series against West Indies. The three-match Test series is slated begin from 27th November.

New Zealand Head Coach Gary Stead said that Colin Munro is unavailable for T20I series due to his BBL commitments with Perth Scorchers.

Pacer Kyle Jamieson, who made a splendid debut for New Zealand in the two-match Test series against India played earlier this season. He also made his limited-overs debut against India and produced decent numbers with the ball in hand. With Trent Boult rested, Uncapped Kyle Jamieson has been named in the T20I squad.

T20I Squad: Tim Southee (captain), Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Siefert (wk), Hamish Bennett, Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Doug Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Scott Kuggeleijn.

Tim Southee will lead the side for the upcoming three-match T20I series against West Indies. Pacer was rested for the Plunket Shield games as New Zealand want to a cautious approach for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

Test Squad: Kane Williamson (captain), Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Tom Blundell, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, BJ Watling (wk), Will Young, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme

The selectors have decided to rest premier players like Kane Williamson and Trent Boult for the T20I series. The duo has given adequate time in order to prepare for the two-match Test series against West Indies that is slated to begin from 3rd December.

Wicket-keeper Glenn Phillips has made a comeback to the T20I squad after doing exceedingly well in the Caribbean Premier League for Trinbago Knight Riders. New Zealand have added Scott Kuggeleijn, Doug Bracewell and Mark Chapman as reserve players for the T20I series.

All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme and spinner Ajaz Patel have been included in the 13-man Test squad despite nursing injuries. The team management is hopeful that the duo can regain full fitness before the Test series.

Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner, Tim Siefert and Jimmy Neesham participated in this year’s Indian Premier League and will be concluded their mandatory 14-man quarantine period on 26th November. All the players will feature for New Zealand in the upcoming three-match T20I series.
