West Indies have announced their 13-member squad for the first two one day games of the bilateral series against India. The hosts West Indies earlier played a three-match series against Afghanistan which ended in a draw. Shannon Gabriel will not be playing for the side as he still has not recovered from the injury sustained in the series against Afghanistan. West Indies will need to win the series against India if they want to automatically qualify for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. If they lose this series, they will play qualifiers in order to take part in the next World Cup.
India are ranked no.3 in limited overs cricket and is coming into the series on the back of good performance despite losing against arch-rivals Pakistan in the finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The series opener will be played at Queens Park Oval, Trinidad. The visitors will play five-match series against West Indies followed by a solitary T20 game.
